The more you know 💡
Morro Bay sits on California’s Central Coast, where a four‑mile sandspit shelters a 2,300‑acre estuary fed by Chorro and Los Osos Creeks and opened to the Pacific beside the volcanic plug of Morro Rock. Morro Rock rises more than 575 feet from the water and is the most iconic of the region’s ancient volcanic peaks, standing guard at the harbor entrance and framing countless sunsets along this stretch of the coast.
The bay and surrounding marine reserves protect tidal flats, marshes, eelgrass beds, and rich bird habitat, making Morro Bay a nationally recognized estuary and a favorite place for kayaking, birding, and quiet evening walks. Holding a single shell against the last light of the day echoes the place itself: a small fragment of the shoreline held up to an immense sky, where every tide and every sunset leaves a new “love letter in the sand”.
